No cruelty against animals will be tolerated at any cost: Chairman AWBI

Chairman of Animal Welfare Board of India, SP Gupta has said that no cruelty against animals will be tolerated at any cost. Addressing media persons in Lucknow today, he said the Board will take stern action against whosoever violates the law. Animal Welfare Board of India is a statutory advisory body under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
Earlier in the day, a delegation led by Mr Gupta met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and suggested measures for welfare of animals.
Mr Gupta said, sacrifice of animals in the name of religion is totally unlawful. He said Mr Yogi has assured to act upon curbing of cruelty against animals.
