Chhattisgarh: Fifty-nine Maoist supporters surrender before police in Bastar region

In Chhattisgarh, fifty-nine Maoist supporters, including 16 women, surrendered before the police in Bastar region yesterday. SP, Sukma, Abhishek Meena said that the surrendered persons belong to Naxal-affected interior villages of Dubbakonta, Gaganpalli and Kongdam.

 He said about 600 villagers came before police with these Maoist supporters stating that they were willing to give up Naxal ideology and return to mainstream. IG Bastar Range, Vivekanand Sinha said there was no pressure from the police for this surrender.
