INX Media case: CBI takes Karti Chidambaram to Mumbai for questioning

Karti Chidambaram, arrested in the INX Media case, was taken to Byculla Jail in Mumbai on Sunday. He is likely to be confronted with Indrani Mukerjea and Peter Mukherjea as part of probe in INX Media case.

A CBI court on 1st March had sent Karti Chidambaram to five-day custody. He was arrested on Wednesday from the Chennai airport soon after he landed from London.
AIR correspondent reports, according to officials, Karti Chidambaram is likely to be confronted with Indrani and Peter Mukherjea, who are currently lodged in two different jails in Mumbai in the Sheena Bora murder case.

Indrani Mukherjea, had told a magistrate that Karti had met her in a Delhi hotel and demanded 1 million dollar in bribe for the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance.

Karti allegedly received Rs 3.5 crore from the Mumbai-based INX Media, now known as 9X Media, for helping it get FIPB clearance in 2007, when it was run by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
