Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 rebounded sharply after two days of losses on Thursday. Strong buying interest witnessed in financial, pharma, metal and real estate stocks. While selling pressure witnessed in select auto stocks. Bajaj Finance was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 7.29 per cent. Bajaj Finserv, SBI, IndusInd Bank, and Dr Reddy’s Lab were among the other top Sensex gainers. While Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, HCL Tech, UltraTech Cement and Power Grid Corp were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 0.26 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.34 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite surged by 0.54 per cent.
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.69 and 0.65 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 52,300 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 15,737 mark. The Sensex gained 358 points to trade at 52,300 and the Nifty50 rose by 102 points to trade at 15,737.
In Nifty50 index shares, Bajaj Finance was the biggest gainer, increased by 7.28 per cent. Bajaj Finserv, SBI, Divis Labs, IndusInd Bank, Wipro and Cipla were among the other gainers.
On the other hand, ITC was the worst performer in the pack, down by 1.51 per cent. Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, UPL, Adani Ports, Shree Cements and Maruti Suzuki were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index surged 1.57 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index rose 1.61 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Quess Corp gained 11.33 per cent, Indiabulls Hsg rose 8.79 per cent, HUDCO, Dr Lal PathLab and Bata India also surged, while Exide Industries, Torrent Power and Adani Green Energy declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, TV18 Broadcast gained 14.22 per cent. On the other hand, Birla Corp fell 2.20 per cent, Can Fin Homes, GNFC and JK Lakshmi Cement declined.
In NSE sectoral indices, 16 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty Media was the top performer as it gained 4.64 per cent, Nifty Realty rose 3.34 per cent, followed by Nifty PSU Bank increased by 2.40 per cent. On the other hand, only Nifty Auto among all sectors declined.
