Renowned film maker Budhadeb Dasgupta passes away; President, PM express grief

Renowned Bengali Film Maker Budhadeb Dasgupta passed away today morning.

He was also a celebrated poet, had, won several National Awards for his contribution to Bengali Cinema.

He is most known for Films like; Bagh Bahadur, Tahader Katha, Charachar and Uttara.

Five of his films have won the National Film Award for best Feature Film.

As a Director, he had won National Film Award for best Director twice.

Over the years he has also published several works of poetry.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the demise of Buddhadeb Dasgupta.

In a tweet today, the President said, Buddhadeb Dasgupta has enriched our arts and culture with his world-renowned films and poetry.

He said, India has lost an extraordinary artist.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his diverse works struck a chord with all sections of society.

Prime Minister said he was also an eminent thinker and poet.
