Sky’s the limit for India’s youth. India is the country with the maximum number of youth faces and yes, India is also the country with one of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems, thus promising entrepreneurs.
According to the latest figures, recently, 50,000 startups have been recognized by the (DPIIT) Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. It is worth noting that it took only 180 days to add the last 10,000 startups under the government’s flagship initiative, Startup India. The recognized startups have contributed significantly to job creation as 1.7 lakh jobs were created by these startups in 2020-2021 period.
An analysis by the MSME Ministry observed that 11 crore jobs have been created in the MSME sector alone. It is a matter of great pride that the leadership teams of 45% of startups have a woman entrepreneur, a trend that will inspire more women entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality. Besides, the Central government is empowering youth by providing all the tools to help them realise their full potential. In a bid to revolutionize the education system, around 15000 schools are expected to be nurtured as models in line with the new National Education Policy. Down the line, 100 new Sainik schools would be set up, higher education commissions would be formulated for standard-setting, accreditation, regulation and funding. Moreover, the government has allotted Rs 35,219 crores for the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme till 2025-2026 to benefit 4 crore students. In addition, the country’s youth is well supported in the rising field of sports and fitness. Khelo India University games took place for the first time in 2020 in Bhubaneswar and the movement has enthused India’s youth in many ways. Going by the fact that today’s youth is tomorrow’s leader, the government has diligently worked with its young athletes to raise awareness on critical issues. National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) carried out a mass athlete awareness programme against doping in sports that educated 3,201 national level young athletes to raise awareness about the dangers and risks posed by doping. The new framework of the country has been prepared in a manner that the arrow has been strung on the bow and is ready to be released to hit the bulls-eye. New India is India of the young, by the young, for the young.
