Amid surge in COVID 19 cases, Meghalaya Government had announced another round of total lockdown of seven days across the State which comes into effect from today. The decision was taken in a review meeting held in Shillong on Friday. Earlier, there was a total lockdown only in East Khasi Hills district, of which the State capital Shillong is a part, and it was supposed to end at 5 am of June 7. This is for the fourth consecutive time that the State authorities have had to extend the lockdown.
The State recorded twelve more Covid deaths and 488 fresh cases of infection. The state also recorded 690 recoveries yesterday.
