All India Radio is a way of life in Ladakh

In Ladakh, All India Radio is a way of life. AIR Leh is not just  a medium of Information, entertainment and education but also helps in providing many youngsters an opportunity to earn their pocket money. AIR Leh is the only medium serving in Ladakhi language, with maximum reach across the length and breadth of Leh. Many individuals are associated with the AIR Leh to showcase their talent to the world.

Till recently Leh Ladakh had very limited opportunities with minimal media for entertainment in Ladakhi language.  As this part of the country remains cut off for nearly half an year due to harsh winter and closed roads, all the avenues and job opportunities too remain closed. In such conditions, AIR Leh is the only medium that gives talented people an opportunity to express themselves, to entertain or to share their excellence in a particular field.  Lobsang Dolma is one such talented singer, who entertained the scores of audience and earned hearts and livelihood as well.

Lobsang Dolma  from Younarom, a far flung area of Zangskar Sub Division of Ladakh region who came to Leh for her education. She recollects her experience with AIR Leh during her schooling days.

AIR Leh not just gave her a platform to entertain, but gave confidence in life as well. Lobsang Dolma who is now an elected first woman Sarpanch of Halka Panchayat Pipiting of Zangskar Sub Division. There are several others who are associated with AIR Leh, expressed their talents,  toned up their talents, educated people and entertained listeners and grew in stature to become even policy makers.
