Election Commission recommends to include Paid News in list of electoral offences

The Election Commission, in its endeavour to promote free and fair elections in the country, has recommended to include Paid News in the list of electoral offences.

Speaking exclusively to AIR News, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra informed that the Commission has suggested the Law Ministry to take necessary steps to amend the governing statutes in order to include Paid News as an electoral offence. Mr. Chandra informed that the Central poll body is very much concerned about the menace of Paid News and takes all due steps in order to curb it.
