NDRF likely to join rescue operation for trapped miners in Coal mine at Umpleng in East Jaintia Hills district very soon

Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is likely to join the rescue operation for trapped miners in a Coal mine at Umpleng in East Jaintia Hills district very soon .

Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is likely to join the rescue operation for trapped miners in a Coal mine at Umpleng in East Jaintia Hills district very soon. Five labourers got trapped in the 500 feet deep mine after the coal mining tragedy. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Fire and Emergency Services had started rescue works since the incident.

The Home Minister informed that the rescue work is going to be very difficult due to inclement weather. He lauded the police for managing to arrest the owner of the coal mines within three days after the incident. He stated that the contractors who had engaged these labourers are still absconding. He said, police are making all possible efforts to nab the persons involved in the incident.
