Women’s Self Help Groups in Maharashtra continue work even during lockdown

Women’s Self Help Group in Maharashtra have not stopped their work even during lockdown or strict restrictions imposed in the state.

Through the sale of mask, sanitizer and other items, they have crossed a record turnover of 60 crore.

AIR correspondent reports, self help group members of Maharashtra are using lockdown as an opportunity to increase their business.

Around 2,000 women from 730 self help group have produced around 9 lakh mask and eared more than 1 crore.

During first wave of corona they have sold more than 1 crore mask and earned about 13 crore 30 lakh rupee.

40 SHGs are also producing sanitizers.

Around 2,000 SHGs in 34 districts of maharashtra have sold vegetables of around Rs. 20 crores.

Through the sale of fruits these SHGs have earned approximately Rs. 7 crore.

Sale of various grains have provided them more around Rs.15 crore.

Some of the SHGs are providing food to Covid care centers.

Some are selling pesticides, fertilisers and seeds.

Maharashtra’s Rural Development minister Hasan Mushrif said that some of these items are also available on various e-commerce platforms.

It is helping them to reach more and more customers.
