Over 60 MTs free rice, 22 MTs wheat distributed among beneficiaries of PHH, AAY categories in Kargil

In Kargil Ladakh people belonging to the poor family are happy as in this time of Lockdown and Covid 19 Situation they are getting free ration from the Go Ernest under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Sarpanch Narambee Sankoo Sadiq Ali thanked the Government for providing help to the poor families and people are getting free Ration which is helping them.

A Total of 60.21 metric tonnes of free rice and 22.57 metric tonnes of free wheat (atta) have been distributed as a part of the free ration distribution to the poor and needy souls under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) in the district for the month of May and June, 2021.

This was stated by Haji Anayat Ali, Tehsil Supply Officer Kargil while talking to AIR correspondent Anayat Ali during an exclusive interview. He said that 88215 beneficiaries belonging to the PHH and AAY in the district are being covered under the PMGKAY scheme in the district.

Haji Anayat said that due to lockdown there is a slow in the turn out of the beneficiaries but still the department is trying its hard to reach out each and every beneficiaries.

Pertinently, Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is a central government scheme launched during the lockdown period last year amid COVID-19. Under the scheme 5 kg food grains are distributed, per soul belonging to PHH and AAY categories, for 2 months which is in addition to the monthly quota of subsidized food grain of 5 kg per person being provided under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
