Nine hospitals in Nashik to set up their own oxygen production plants

Few days ago 24 people died due to leakage in an Oxygen tank in Nashik. Now the civic body has made permanent alternative arrangements at this place. Besides, as per Maharashtra Government’s initiative of making every district self-reliant in medical oxygen, one of the badly affected districts in the state Nashik will be coming up with nine oxygen production plants.

Nine hospitals in the district will soon have their own oxygen production plants to meet the rising demand for the life saving gas for Covid patients. The district has got an administrative approval of Rs 10 crore 88 lakhs for the project from the district annual plan.

In the first phase Manmad, Yeola, Kalvan and Chandwad sub-district hospitals and Sinnar, Pimpalgaon Baswant, Igatpuri and Wani rural hospitals in the district will have the plants to produce oxygen from the air.  The proposal has been approved by the district collector and the project will be operational within a month.

The plants will have the capacity to produce enough oxygen everyday to fill 860 jumbo cylinders in natural form enabling the hospitals to have a consistent supply of Oxygen. Meanwhile, a Liquid Oxygen Generation Project with a capacity to produce 20 Kilo liters of oxygen was inaugurated in Nanded yesterday.
