Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that despite the development challenges, India has taken many bold steps on clean energy, energy efficiency, afforestation and bio-diversity. Addressing Leaders’ Summit on Climate Change this evening through video conferencing, Mr Modi said, India’s ambitious renewable energy target of 450 Gigawatts by 2030 shows our commitment.
He said, Climate Change is a lived reality for millions around the world and their lives and livelihoods are already facing its adverse consequences. The Prime Minister said, humanity is battling a global pandemic right now and this event is a timely reminder that the grave threat posed by Climate Change has not disappeared. He thanked US President Joe Biden for taking this initiative. The Prime Minister was invited by US President Joe Biden to participate in this summit.
Nearly 40 other world leaders are participating in the Summit.
