In Nashik district of Maharashtra 22 patients died in a COVID hospital after an oxygen tank installed in hospital reportedly leaked. All these patients were on Ventilator. State government has ordered a high level inquiry of the incident. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has asked all the hospitals to check oxygen facilities. Maharashtra’s Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that he will visit the hospital.
This hospital is being operated by Nashik Municipal Corporation and oxygen tank is operated by a private company. Oxygen leakage was reported around 12 noon today. Fire brigade employees and other technical staff were trying to stop leakage. Later with the help of the technician of the company, the fault in the oxygen tank was corrected.
Around 150 patients were admitted in the hospital. Some of them are shifted to other hospitals and also alternate arrangement of oxygen was done.
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari expressed his condolences to the next of those who lost their lives and wished speedy recovery to the affected persons.
