Sensex and Nifty close with losses of around half a per cent

The Sensex and the Nifty today closed with losses of around half a per cent. The domestic stocks declined amid the negative cues from global equity markets as resurgence of Coronavirus cases worldwide and fresh restriction to check its spread dented investors sentiment.

The Sensex fell 244 points, or 0.51 per cent, to finish at 47,706. The Nifty also slipped 63 points, or 0.44 per cent, to settle at 14,296.
