Covid situation in Ladakh is turning grim as the number active cases increasing by each passing day. AIR Correspondent reports 245 new positive cases have been reported during the past 24 hours in the UT and 47 patients cured and discharged. With increase in arrival of people from different parts of the country, the graph of new covid positive cases is climbing up.
Just 46 active cases on 1st March now gone up to 1363 with 1295 in Leh district alone. While reviewing the alarming covid situation in Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur instructed to go for 100 percent testing of inbound passengers at entry points. He also reviewed capacity of beds and oxygen supply.
On the other hand, Leh District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Chairman, Shrikant Suse directed Border Roads Organization and Contractors’ Associations in Leh to ensure that Covid protocols are adhered and labourers are tested and isolated upon found positive. He also directed them to provide all medical facilities to active cases. He also warned to initiate legal action against people who fail to adhere to Covid-19 management as locals are at risk of being infected.
