UEFA Champions League Semi-finals: Real Madrid will face Chelsea and Man City will take on PSG

The quarterfinals for the champions league are done. Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG, and Man City are in the semis as Real Madrid will face Chelsea and Manchester City will take on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

The quarter-finals saw the elimination of the defending UEFA champions Bayern Munich as they were held back by PSG on an aggregate score of 3-3. PSG advanced into the semis on the basis of the away goal system. PSG was also ruthless against FC Barcelona as they eliminated them with an aggregate score of 5-2 in the round of 16.

Real Madrid

13-time champion league winners Real Madrid will face the English powerhouse Chelsea in the last four as they defeated Liverpool on an aggregate of 3-1 in the quarter-finals. In the last season they were out in the round of 16 by Man City but this time, chances are there that they might meet in the finals.

Karim Benzema is the highest scorer for Real Madrid with 5 goals. Tony Kroos, Luka Modrić along Casemiro are holding the midfield and are the driving forces behind the team’s success.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)

Bayern defeated PSG in last year’s champion league final and this time the tables have turned, as Bayern was eliminated by PSG in the quarterfinals. The team will face Pep Guardiola’s City and the competition is expected to be fierce.

Kylian Mbappé has been the talisman for PSG as he has scored 8 goals in the season. The team lost two of their opening three matches in the group stage and from there they won their group, destroyed Barcelona, and eliminated the defending champion and Man City is lined up next.

Chelsea

The English powerhouse has been consistent in the competition as they were exceptional in the group stage. They eliminated Spanish giants Athletico Madrid in the round of 16 and in the quarterfinals they defeated Porto with an aggregate of 2-1. Olivier Giroud is the highest goal scorer for Chealse with six goals.

Manchester City

Last year the unexpected exit from the Champions league shattered the hopes of the team as they were eliminated by Lyon. But this season they have come back strong and are looking more composed side with lights of Kevin De Bruyne, Ferran Torres, Foden, and many more.

Man City defeated Dortmund with an aggregate score of 4-2, in the 2nd leg City was losing on the away goal but goals from Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden finally ended Dortmund’s hopes of advancing into the semis.
