Mumbai’s Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale urges citizens to stay at home and follow guidelines issued by state govt

Mumbai’s Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale has urged citizens to stay at home and follow the guidelines issued by the state government so that each of us can emerge victorious in this war against Coronavirus pandemic. In a video message, Mumbai’s top cop has said that COVID does not differentiate between religion, ideology, gender or age.

He said there is no possibility of a ceasefire against this invisible enemy who continues to wreak havoc across borders. The Commissioner said it is important to follow COVID protocol and stay indoors to the maximum extent possible.

Meanwhile, in line with the new SOPs announced by the Maharashtra Government yesterday, Mumbai’s Deputy Police Commissioner (Operations) S Chaitanya has issued prohibitory order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure, banning gathering of more than five people to contain the spread of COVID-19. The order will remain in force till 7 am on 1st May, unless withdrawn earlier.

Accordingly, all non-essential services will remain suspended and public places remain closed. The order further asks people to follow social distancing norms, use face masks and observe all the directions of the state government issued in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Any person violating the order will be liable for punishment as per law.
